For your Med Surg rotation, try: “Supported 5 – 6 post-op patients per shift, tracked trends in vitals, assisted with med passes under RN supervision, and used teach-back to reinforce discharge instructions.”

For Pediatrics: “Adapted assessments to developmental stages, partnered with families on care plans, and kept EHR notes timely and complete.”

Notice how these examples show competence without claiming expertise. You are painting a picture of someone who can think on their feet, work within their scope, and contribute to a team. These are the precise items preceptors want to see in a new hire.

Make Your Certifications Impossible to Miss

BLS and ACLS certifications are non-negotiables for most hospital positions, but they are only valuable if the recruiter actually sees them. Don’t hide them at the bottom of page two. Put them where tired eyes will land during a quick scan, which is usually right after your education section.

Include the dates so they know your certifications are current. If you have completed additional hospital modules like HIPAA compliance, infection control protocols, or specific equipment training (IV pumps, glucometers, wound vacs), cluster those nearby. When recruiters see that grouping, they think “ready to hit the ground running” instead of “needs three months of orientation before they are useful.”

Keywords That Actually Sound Like a Human Wrote Them
